The key in fixing a broken toilet is to tend to the problem right away. When your toilet starts to act differently, inspect what might be causing the problem. Some of the usual toilet problems that are mostly encountered by homeowners include the following:

  • Toilet that is unable to flush – This is perhaps one of the most common toilet problems that you are likely to encounter. When you tried flushing your toilet and water does not come out, chances are, the chain that links the handle and the bottom plug of the tank has been disconnected or has come loose. If this is the case, simply reconnect that toilet part and then try pushing the flush again.
  • Water inside the toilet’s float ball – A float ball resembles like a hard-shelled balloon that is commonly seen inside the toilet’s tank. Like with other toilet plumbing components, the float ball is also susceptible to wear and tear. Resting above the cold water can cause it to rupture thus letting water to seep in. When this happens, there is no choice but to replace it with a new one.
  • Too loose flush handle – The toilet’s handle is typically affixed by a small screw. If you feel that the handle becomes quite loose, better open the tank and check the back of the handle. Inspect what causes the problem. If it is just a loose screw, all you have to do is to get a screw driver and tighten it. However, if there are signs of cracks and other apparent damage, then it is necessary to replace it with a new handle.
