Beeswax And Votive Candles
All natural wax candles and particularly votive candles are growing in use and popularity. As the seasons change from summer to fall and then winter the use of candles as light and to add some ambiance to an evening is more in vogue. Votive candles are a great choice as they are small candles and can be moved from room to room almost like a personal candle. They are protected by a holder and give a nice soft light.
All natural candles are good choice for most homes as they burn clean and don’t give off any soot or odor as they burn. One hundred percent natural candles are available, but careful reading of the label is necessary as a candle only needs to have fifty one percent of a natural wax to be called an all natural candle. Beeswax and soy wax are the predominate waxes used as an all natural alternative to petroleum based candles. Bees wax has been around as long time and is the considered one of the highest quality waxes out there. Both beeswax and soy wax are softer waxes than paraffin based waxes and have a lower melting point. This leads to easier cleanup of any wax spills as hot water will usually make the wax soft enough to get cleaned up.
Votive candles come in many different colors and can have fragrance added to them to make scented candles. Some people claim that beeswax candles make the best scented candles as they burn clean and with a sweet natural smell and give a truer rendering of the fragrance. Others feel that the cheaper candles do just fine and prefer to go that route. Test it out yourself and see if your nose can tell the difference and whether the higher priced candle is really worth the added cost.
